Seeing the Kaneko HEADS on Park Avenue was an incomparable visual experience, totally unlike that of seeing the large sculptures in a gallery or museum.
Thirty of Jun’s fans gathered in New York on October 9 to see the HEADS and to attend a reception, hosted by Robert and Karen Duncan, celebrating Jun and the exhibition. KANEKO Executive Director Hal France spoke about KANEKO to the guests, noting that in order to flourish, creativity needs space, time, and commitment.
The three pieces exhibited in New York are from a collection created in the beehive kilns at Mission Clay Products in Pittsburg, Kansas, from 2005-2007. The project, Jun’s largest undertaking to date, produced 44 large-scale works.
