KANEKO Development Manager

KANEKO is a 501(c)(3) organization founded on the principle that space and freedom for the imagination are crucial to civic life. This nonprofit is unique in its mission, working with creative people in all fields to produce accessible exhibitions, performances, public and education programs, and workshops.

Job Description Summary 

The KANEKO Development Manager is responsible for raising funds for operations, programs, and exhibitions through annual and membership campaigns and special events; creating and managing targeted fundraising activities; developing and directing donor management and fundraising protocols, including donor cultivation and care; managing all donor correspondence; and collaborating with the Grant Writer on applications and reports. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a vibrant non-profit organization planning significant growth.

Starting Salary Range: $70,000 -$75,000 plus attractive benefits package. Possible opportunity for bonus based on achieving benchmarks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to set fundraising targets, create and implement strategic fundraising plans, and track progress toward goals.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising projects to generate financial support and cultivate relationships, including receptions, programs, and large special events.
  • Develop effective fundraising materials and campaigns in collaboration with the Marketing team.
  •  Work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations and Executive Director to develop annual fundraising budgets and financial projections. 
  • Coordinate and accompany senior leadership and board members on donor visits, meetings, and solicitation activities.
  • Monitor and analyze fundraising results, providing regular reports to the leadership team.
  • Conduct prospect research and develop individualized cultivation strategies to maximize donor engagement and support.
  • Manage fundraising database and tracking systems to ensure accurate and timely recording of all donations and grant-related activities in the donor database.
  • Create and manage comprehensive donor stewardship and gift recognition programs to ensure long-term donor engagement and retention.
  • Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgment of donations and maintain regular communication with donors to foster strong relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Grant Writer as requested to research and identify grant opportunities, compose proposals, produce grant reports, and maintain records.
  • Engage volunteers and staff in fundraising efforts and provide guidance and support to enhance their effectiveness. 
  • Perform other related duties as requested or responsibilities dictate.

Qualifications: 

  • Strong track record of fundraising success through a variety of methods
  • Superb organization and communication skills 
  • Successful project design and management experience
  • Proven ability to develop new external relationships
  • Proficient use of Bloomerang or similar donor management software 
  • Outstanding collaborator with proven ability to work with and motivate a diverse range of colleagues and volunteers
  • Consistently poised, positive, and supportive
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Excellent writing and copy editing skills strongly preferred
