What they didn’t teach you in French class.

Pack a bag lunch and join Alliance Française d’Omaha’s two-hour workshop on Saturday, August 11th at KANEKO.

Enhance your grammar, diction, and love for French language through the lyrics of two beloved French songs: Brel’s Ne me quitte pas and Piaf’s La vie en rose. Discover the rules of “lyric diction” and the distinct differences between singing French and speaking French. Explore the poetry and meaning of the French lyrics, learn word-for-word translations, perfect your pronunciation, and experience la joie de chanter en français!

Requirement: For all levels of French learners. No singing ability required, only a love for French music.

Instructor: Anne Marie Kenny is an Omaha native who lived in Europe for 20 years where she was a professional singer. Anne Marie has performed in concert and cabaret at prestigious venues such as the Paris Ritz Hotel, the Salle Cortot, the Théâtre d’Opérettes de Cannes, the Joslyn Art Museum, and with the Omaha Symphony. In addition to singing and teaching voice lessons, she is fluent in French, and is the immediate past president of the Alliance Francaise of Omaha. Anne-Marie continues her own vocal and musical development with Janine Reiss in Paris, one of the greatest voice coaches of our time.
