Creative Catalyst

past event

Creative Catalysts is a workshop series that connects select metro area students with local artists.

This ongoing program brings established artists of different mediums and backgrounds to teach and explore art and creativity at KANEKO. Creative Catalysts is offered free to underprivileged students, and the collaborative output of each session becomes an installation in the current KANEKO exhibition.

GENERAL OUTCOMES

While the content and structure of workshops vary depending on the programmatic season, there are common outcomes across sessions that KANEKO aims to achieve:

• Provide underserved students with exciting creative experiences and a platform for learning new skills in a hands-on environment.
• Give participants a fuller understanding of how creativity and the creative process works across disciplines to allow them to realize their own creative potential.
• Allow students to learn from working professionals in the arts, business, technology, and other fields to expose participants to career opportunities and potential for their futures.
• Present an informal learning environment for students to engage in original, collaborative, exciting, experiential learning and display their work in a professional exhibition space.
