Beginning Saturday, March 14th KANEKO will be closed as a preemptive measure to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our community. All events, public and private, will be postponed and rescheduled at some point yet to be determined. We will do our best to update you regularly and to be as transparent as possible as we move forward.
What inspires you, who do you inspire, what are you inspired to do…time to explore the first theme of TEDxOmaha in 2010 – Inspiration. This year during the TEDxOMAHA Salons we are taking the time to reflect back over the past decade of TEDxOmaha, revisiting the themes at our annual events. This gives us a huge opportunity to see where the speakers and the ideas worth spreading have gone in that time, and also what new has emerged within the community, and the world.
Our first theme is INSPIRATION…. time to explore what this means and can mean. What does Inspiration mean to you, to your community. How or what inspires you, who do you inspire? Join us, inspire us, be inspired, be inspirational. Inspiration TEDxOmaha Speakers from 2010- Annette Nathan, Gary Wasdin, Jack Phillips Jeff Koterba, Jonathan Benjamin Alvarado, Julian Adair, Lamarr Womble, Matt Mason, Nancy Kirk, Rebecca Lowry, Rebecca Lowry, Rita Paskowitz, Robert Byrnes, Shane Lopez, Tom Trenelone, Yasmeen Bora.
Why will you love TEDxOmaha Salons?
Lively discussion that we all participate in. Smaller gathering so we all have a voice and get to know each other. By focusing on a single topic we get to take a deeper dive into subjects and get to a more granular level. We can keep that conversation and community going because we are meeting every month, and we are meeting in a really creative space.
The Salons are hosted in Kaneko’s SPACE 4, the room with Jun Kaneko’s work. Since the gallery is closed to the public on Mondays, Kaneko would like everyone attending the TEDxOmaha Salons to enter from the WEST side of KANEKO through the Library entrance on 12th and Jones. This will put you right into the space as the room is accessible through the library.
TEDxOmaha is an independently organized TEDx event. As a part of the global TED community, we connect locally to explore the ideas and situations that affect our cultures, environments, and minds. Most people are introduced to this remarkable collection of human experiences through recorded TED Talks. Through technology, we can hear stories of discovery, heartache, joy, introspection, and imagination from some of the world’s most amazing people. By creating events in Omaha, we produce an experience based on TED’s principles.
Who attends TEDxOmaha? Five hundred of our community’s most curious, forward-thinking people. Activists, artists, philanthropists, modern-day philosophers, policymakers, stay-at-home parents, and more. You, too, can gather with amazing people from our region who share their insights and accomplishments. It helps us witness what is happening – and what is possible – so we can be inspired to take bigger steps together. TEDxOmaha is held annually in October and offers monthly TEDxOmahaSalon events at The KANEKO.
