Through this camp, students will explore movement with members of tbd. dance collective. Each day, they will have an opportunity to take dance classes, play games involving movement, be active, and have fun! Students will learn about how movement is created through different choreographic styles in a variety of settings, how dance is used in film, the role of music within dance, the use of props, lighting, costuming, and how to make their own movement! Students will work collaboratively and individually within this camp to discover what movement means to them. While the emphasis is on modern + contemporary dance styles, no previous dance experience is necessary to participate. Movement is for anyone and everyone! Our goal is to encourage campers to move their bodies together and learn in a safe and judgment-free environment.
Camps are held Monday – Friday 9 AM-4 PM.
Lunch and snacks are provided and we will make every effort to have lunch in our outdoor spaces. If your camper has any dietary restrictions, please let us know after you register by emailing katherine@thekaneko.org.
Camp t-shirts will be provided for each camper- you will be prompted to provide a size when you register.
COVID-19 POLICY: We are uniquely equipped to manage a restricted number of learners due to our large gallery space and have carefully adhered to city, state, and federal COVID-19 guidelines. Campers, instructors, and all KANEKO employees will be required to physically distance and wear masks at all times. Disinfecting stations will be provided in every class space and we have recently installed HVAC plasma filtration products to assure excellent air filtration at all times.
Because these camps are free, spots will be filling quickly. We ask that you let us know at least a week before camp starts if you cannot attend. Please alert us by emailing katherine@thekaneko.org.
