Amy Himes earned a BA in Studio Arts from Mills College in Oakland, CA, where She studied drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, and art history with Jay Defeo, Catherine Wagner, Ron Nagle, Moira Roth, and Mary-Ann Milford-Lutzker. She also studied the history of theater & film and the Spanish language and culture. Amy was awarded the Ralph DuCasse Scholarship for talent in fine arts.
After living and working in the Bay Area, Amy returned to Nebraska and earned a Master’s Degree from UNL and a Doctorate from UNO in Educational Administration.
Her work in fine arts and educational leadership is vitalized by love. She is inspired by the Beat Generation and a host of visual artists, writers, musicians, scientists, and visionaries. She is fascinated by world languages and disparate connections.
Amy is honored to be a part of the inclusive environment at the KANEKO.
