KANEKO is currently seeking a driven and creative student interested in the intersection of art, education, science, design, and philosophy to be our 2020 KANEKO Camp Intern! KANEKO staff are curious about the world; about how ideas are created and about the exploration of creativity in all its forms. The Summer Camp Intern is an integral job in assisting in the coordination and execution of the wildly popular KANEKO Summer Camps. As directed by the Education Manager and Administrative Director, the Summer Camp Intern will work with a particular focus in classroom management throughout the camp programs. The Summer Camp Intern will also work with the Education Manager to assist in guardian communication, camp setup, coordination, and reporting. Additional duties as assigned. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work with the Education Manager to execute KANEKO creative education through Summer Camps 
  • Morning set-up and evening tear-down 
  • Assisting teaching artists; details dependent on camp curriculum and structure 
  • Oversee camp day-to-day functions, including field trips, group activities, and in-class time with instructors 
  • Communicate timely and efficiently with staff, families, and students. 
  • Be a vocal and productive part of the KANEKO staff team, dedicated to advancing the mission of KANEKO in our world 
  • Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Education, Fine Arts, or other related degrees (or degree in progress) or commensurate experience with a preferred focus in the Arts, Humanities, and Teaching disciplines 
  • Interest in creative learning and the promotion of innovative and creative learning techniques 
  • Demonstrated superior attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Ability to work competently and efficiently in a busy multi-task environment 
  • Must be able to prioritize work and must meet deadlines 
  • Must be able to work a set and reliable schedule 
  • Must maintain a welcoming, professional, confidential, honest and reliable demeanor 

SCHEDULE + REWARDS 

  • KANEKO Summer Camp Intern works from 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through the months of June and July. 
  • KANEKO Summer Camp Intern is paid two stipends of $850, to be paid in the middle and end of the internship. 
  • KANEKO Summer Camp Intern is provided with full membership benefits during the time of employment. 
  • KANEKO Summer Camp Intern receives full mentorship & guidance in the Arts Nonprofit sector throughout the time of employment.
