KANEKO Gallery Supervisor

The gallery supervisors support the mission of the organization by maintaining and managing the gallery space, working the front desk and interacting with visitors during our public exhibitions, events and programs. They are the face of KANEKO and represent the organization both within the gallery and out in the community.

Job Description

  • Title: Gallery Supervisor

  • Reports To: Exhibitions Manager

  • Status: Part-Time

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with staff, board members, committees, and other organizations to support KANEKO programs, exhibits, events, and education.

  • Open and close KANEKO facilities including setting alarms and key-holding responsibilities.

  • Manage visitors & event attendees by using Altru database software

  • Promoting KANEKO memberships and donations

  • Communicate the KANEKO mission with visitors in a friendly and professional manner

  • Maintains the gallery space including looking out for potential hazards to artwork or visitors & light cleaning

  • Leading public and private tours about current exhibitions and programs

  • Assist Special Events Manager with coordinating private events and community rentals

  • Assist Programs Coordinator in facilitating programs

  • Additional duties as assigned.


  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Articulate and well-organized
  • Independent; comfortable taking ownership for the space without much oversight
  • Ability to take initiative and complete tasks to better support the KANEKO staff
  • Ability to reliably and punctually adhere to a schedule
  • Must be available Saturdays & evenings
  • Interest in the creative process, art, history, community and education
