KANEKO Creative Camp Counselor 2022

Type: Part-Time, Temporary
Reports to: Program Manager
Salary: $15.00 per hour
Schedule: Up to 20 – 30 hours weekly. Must be available Monday through Friday. Schedules may vary but must stay consistent
Average shifts: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM, 11:00 AM – 4:30 PM

KANEKO staff are curious about the world; about how ideas are created and about the exploration of creativity in all its forms. The Creative Camps Counselor is an integral job in assisting in the execution of KANEKO Creative Camps. As directed by the Program Manager, the Camp Counselor will assist Instructors in classroom management, program setup & tear-down, and overall camp supervision and support. The Camp Counselor is expected to enjoy working with children in a fast-paced environment, and be equipped with strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work under the supervision of the Program Manager to assist in the execution of KANEKO Creative Camps 
  • Program set-up and tear-down 
  • Work as the lead KANEKO representative in each classroom, focusing on classroom management and overall supervision of the students 
  • Supervise campers and ensure their safety, development, growth, and general well-being while at Camp 
  • Work as an Instructor assistant/KANEKO representative in classroom activities
  • Communicate timely and efficiently with staff, partners, families, and students
  • Be a vocal and productive part of the KANEKO team, dedicated to advancing the mission of KANEKO 
  • Additional duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 2+ years of experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or related field 
  • Must be able to pass a background check 
  • Interest in creative learning and the promotion of innovative and creative learning techniques
  • Enjoys being in the company of children and has a strong ability to lead a group of children
  • Demonstrated superior attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Ability to work competently and efficiently in a busy multi-task environment
  • Must have an interest in making the world a more diverse, inclusive, equitable, and accessible place 
  • Must be able to work a set and reliable schedule 
  • Must maintain a welcoming, professional, confidential, honest, and reliable demeanor
