KINETIC explored the art & science of movement & the perception of motion.

KINETIC contemplated the multitude of meaning we ascribe to the vast & ubiquitous concept of movement. Whether an artist’s expressive composition or a scientist’s subject of examination, our world is defined by kinetics — the way our bodies, minds, & even the celestial body on which we reside exist in a perpetual state of motion.

KINETIC hosted a variety of performances, lectures, & education that explored the concept of motion through the arts, sciences, & beyond.

The KINETIC exhibition introduced audiences to legendary and contemporary artists pushing the boundaries of kinetic art. Visitors witnessed the scale and scope of John Buck’s illustrious career and delved into the intricacies of his large-scale, hand-carved sculptures in motion. They moved through Blumen Lumen’s garden of interactive flowers and learned about the scientific study of movement with the UNO Department of Biomechanics’ interactive display.

KINETIC Artists: Blumen Lumen by FoldHaus, Deborah Butterfield, George Rickey, John Buck, Larry Sosso, Mark di Suvero, Michael McGinnis, Ralfonso, & Tom Sitzman.

KINETIC Collaborators: Anne Pagel, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands, Boys & Girls Club of the Midlands, Flatwater Folk Art Museum, Cassia Kite, City of Boynton Beach Art in Public Places, Connect Gallery, Creighton University, Debby Coles-Dobay, Dr. Nick Stergiou, Dr. Shane Farritor, Edem Soul Music, Gallery 72, George Neubert, Graham Ulicny, HDR Inc., International Kinetic Art Exhibit and Symposium, Kinetic Art Organization, Omaha Under the Radar, RDG Planning & Design, Sheldon Museum of Art, Stanzi Vaubel, Studio Fackler, tbd.
