Among his many pursuits as a Lacanian psychoanalyst and psychiatrist, Dr. Jean-Pierre Klotz examines the relationships between subjectivity and technology -- intersections that he finds particularly interesting in the culture of the United States. Klotz teaches across the globe, and speaks frequently to professional organizations in Europe, South America, Canada, India, and the U.S.  His publications, which he composes in many languages, number in the hundreds, and he frequently communicates through Twitter. In his KANEKO presentation, Klotz will discuss how new social media affects the psyche, changing the social bonds we form and shifting possibilities for creativity. Klotz will be joined by three enthusiastic users of social media:

Rahul Gupta is an Omaha entrepreneur with his hands in a software company and a life settlement provider company. He graduated from UC Berkeley in Interdisciplinary Field Studies with an emphasis in Technology and Society, worked as a software developer in the Bay Area during the dot com boom, and has been an interested observer of the evolution of technology ever since. Prior to moving to Omaha, he worked as a professional actor (which is also quite entrepreneurial). Rahul has in turn struggled with and embraced social media, is currently active on Twitter (@rahulgupta), somewhat active on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/hulgupta), and has forgotten that he's on LinkedIn (http://www.linkedin.com/in/rahulgupta).

Amy Mather is the Technology Librarian at Omaha Public Library, where she manages the website, electronic collections, and works on several adult outreach programs. She recently managed the launch of the new OPL website and brand. Prior to moving to Omaha, Amy was a Technology Product Manager at ProQuest. Amy is an avid Facebooker, but she is not a fan of Twitter. She believes that Facebook is where the conversation is and will continue to be among the social connectors. You can find Amy:
